The hypocrisy of the greenies is boundless.

The lake association that takes care of our little lake here in western Mass has been fighting eutrophication for years.  Since winter drawdowns are difficult and harvesting generally ineffective, we've started using weed killing chemical applications.  The chemicals are so safe that after one day you can swim and after three days you can drink the water.  They also don't work as well as we'd like, but something is better than nothing.

But the anti-chemical greenies believe that all chemicals are bad, so they remonstrate, often loudly. We mollify them by a simple trick:  We tell them we're killing only the "bad" weeds, the ones that are "invasive species."  The inanity of that distinction escapes the greenies, which says a lot about their principles - or lack thereof.

Too bad it's not so easy to deal with lots of the rest of their often irrational agenda.
